List of Cryptocurrency Mining Software (PoW)
In addition to selecting mining software to aid your crypto mining, it is also necessary to select the right wallet and mining hardware to go along with it. A good wallet helps to manage your crypto after mining, for instance, the sending and conversion or withdrawing or a good mining software can also play that role, while a good mining hardware should join the software to optimize on the digging process, its efficiency and speed.
The hardware will just provide the necessary processing power while everything else will need a software. A good crypto mining software provides the hardware with a solid interface to do and to direct their job effectively such as scheduling, helps to run the algorithms that play the actual role of mining, delivers the work done by the hardware to the crypto blockchain network, and receives the completed work from other miners on the network. It also connects the work done by solo miners to the blockchain, connects members of mining pools to the rest of their pool, and monitors and displays miner inputs and outputs and the statistics of variables such as the base rate, temperature, speed of the cooler fan and speed of miners. It helps direct the hardware to change fan speed, change currency to mine, etc as would be needed.
A mining software will also direct the mining hardware to mine as part of a specific pool. Whether you are going it all alone, mining crypto through a pool, or using cloud mining, selecting a good mining software is of paramount importance.
What makes a good crypto mining software?
What makes a good crypto mining software depends on a number of things, though in a nutshell, it's important to consider the cryptocurrency being mined and the preference of the owner.
- Say for instance your goals: do you want to concentrate on mining a single cryptocurrency/altcoin or keep a dynamic portfolio of several cryptocoins? Some miners allow you to perform the later although many miners feel that those that support multiple algorithms are not optimized for a single coin/crypto/altcoin. Nevertheless, there are few programs that will allow you to switch mining of coins automatically. These have 1 to 3 mining programs that work for that algorithm but not for others and therefore you will need to select the specific program that works for the coin/altcoin you want to mine.
- Smart mining algorithm has a control program that allows shutting of the miner to switch to another algorith. In other words, a smart mining algorithm allows the miner to switch to mining the most profitable coin automatically. In addition to smart mining algorithm, you might also chose software that has easy GUI for Mining for instance a one-click miner. The selection may also depend on whether you are mining crypto on a CPU, GPU, Raspberry Pi, or ASICs (application-specific integrated circuits).
- The selection is also based on the type or kind of crypto mining hardware you are or will be using and also much on the level of skill you have as a crypto miner -- beginner, skilled. You can get one that allows you to use command prompts to run programs or a GUI-based one that suits those free/comfortable using buttons based on graphical user interface (GUI). A good GUI has well labelled buttons to click and so on meaning you do not need to understand or use command prompts.
- Again, some pieces of software now allow you to mine from your mobile device so are the best if you are the mine-on-the-go guy.
- Good crypto mining software should also have as many functionality as possible, for instance should show your estimated earnings per month and indicate the process outputs as you mine, as well as allow you to adjust those outputs in order to optimize your mining profits. In addition to avoiding those with over-simplistic and limited interfaces and limited control over mining operations, you want to look for those that allows you to control hash difficulty, GPU usage, thread management, and other issues because it allows you to fine tune and optimize your mining efforts. While most of the cryptocurrency mining software are console applications, most of them offer some basic form of GUI that allow you to control things visually. This solves issues where it is hard to get real-time data from console text. In addition, a mining software should not be too dependent on the GPU so as to hinder a miner or to be hindered by the miner. The best mining software will also offer multiple approaches for GPU access. Also, the best ones are those that support multiple GPUs or multiple devices and they can let you build servers or distribute operations across devices to optimize that progress per unit of computing time. If you cannot afford a high-end rig, it is advisable to get tools that offer unlimited distribution (across devices) because that allows you to get the most out of a weak hardware.
- Cloud-based crypto mining, as long as the cloud mining pool you are signed up is genuine, allows you to resume mining operation across platforms that do not necessarily have a single platform-agnostic, unified solution to carry them through complete distribution.
We compiled a number of crypto mining software below which is a good list whether you are looking for a desktop, mobile, Windows, Linux, MacOs to work with your miner or a cloud-based mining companion software.
