Lists of Merchants Accepting Bitcoin and Altcoins

Even as the buzz about cryptocurrencies increases, its use in the consumer markets is increasing. For instance, there is a huge number of merchants today who not only accept Bitcoin but also several other cryptocurrencies thanks to the numerous cryptocurrency gateways today and exchanges.

Payments with cryptocurrencies are considered quick and instant, more secure, the potential for complete anonymity for those who wish, and the possibility of eliminating the risk of identity theft.

The greatest hindrance to accepting cryptocurrencies as a payment method is probably volatility of cryptocurrencies but there is no doubt that barrier will be solved in the near future.

Here are examples of companies and merchants accepting Bitcoins and altcoins as payment methods.

Bitcoin

If you own Bitcoins, there is an endless list of companies that accept the cryptocurrencies in a range of services including fashion shopping, purchasing a variety of retail commodities, buying software, booking for travel and accommodation, website VPN services, buying website content, paying for SEO work, virtual servers, paying for web hosting, eat outs, mobile gaming, software, buying gifts, dating sites, buying domains,

Others accepting Bitcoin as payment methods range from domain name registries, shopping sites, gift websites, travel sites to newspapers.

Overstock.com is an example of a e-retail shop and one of the first consumer-facing companies to start accepting Bitcoin and has done so since January 2014 in partnership with Coinbase. Customers can use Bitcoins to pay for thousands of items including home products, furniture, clothing, electronics, baby items, decor, accessories and many more. The site also allows people to sell products to others.

Microsoft accepts Bitcoin since 2014, allowing customers to purchase content in the Windows and Xbox stores. The company also recently announced that it was adapting Excel 2017 so users can calculate, format, and analyze bitcoin on the platform. Microsoft is also behind the Azure Blockchain that allows companies to use blockchain to facilitate settlement of financial data.
Dell also accepts Bitcoins.

PayPal started accepting Bitcoins in 2014 in partnership with Braintree. They also announced partnership with CoinBase, GoCoin, and BitPay. The company slowed the promotion of Bitcoin after spinoff from eBay and was recently in the news for cracking down accounts that use Bitcoins,
DISH Network started accepting Bitcoins in 2014, in partnership with Coinbase, as a payment for content services.

Intuit, the company behind do-it-yourself tax preparation software TurboTax and business accounting software QuickBooks also accepts Bitcoins since 2014 with next-day settlement to eliminate volatility. It facilitates cross-border services. It also accepts other cryptocurrencies such as Ethereum, Litecoin, Dash, Monero, and the new Bitcoin Cash.

Companies such as WordPress, 4chan.org, and Lumfile cloud-based file server started accepting Bitcoins in 2012 while Reddit, Pirate Bay, The Internet Archive, OkCupid, Namecheap, EZTV and Mega.co.nz started accepting Bitcoins in 2013.

Other examples include Bloomberg, Wikipedia, PureVPN, Shopify.com, Expedia.com, ExpressVPN.com, Poland-based LOT Polish Airlines, WordPress, Overstock.com, Reddit, Virgin Galactic, Lionsgate Films and Microsoft in addition to many others.

Ethereum

Being the second most popular cryptocurrency after Bitcoin, there is no shortage of merchants accepting Ethereum as a payment method.

First, there is a guide to accepting Ethereum as a payment method written recently by Christian Haschek, an ethereum developer. While there are many Bitcoin payment gateways that are known and used, there is probably no major merchant yet that has risen to trustworthy prominence to allow people to use it allover.

One example is Overstock.com, which allows people to spend Ethereum by buying thousands of items.

Rocketr.net allows people to sell digital items including content and software and they can accept payment in Bitcoin, Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash and other methods.

Shopify does not support Eth natively and there is no payment gateway common for that, but you can code for it to accept Eth, Dogecoin and Litecoin as well as other altcoins.

Another example is Pastebin, a company used by 2 million people handling nearly 100 million pastes. The upgrade of the users' account in order to allow payment with Eth would be manual according to a company announcement.

Brave Browser, which is a browser without ads has also added Ethereum as a micro payment method.

All-mints.com, which is a marketplace for vendors selling various products such as electronics, computers, perfumes, and pet supplies just to mention a few, allows merchants to accept Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Dash, Dogecoin, Monero and other altcoins

Coinpayments.net also has tools that you can use to accept Eth and over 40 altcoins now for only 0.50%. It has plugins and other tools for Eth and other alcoins.

Litecoin

When it comes to Litecoin applications, the coin is the second most valued on the market today. There are very many places where you can spend Litecoins including;

Ellenet is a film and multimedia production company and the first Australian firm to accept both Bitcoin and Litecoin.

Sean’s Outpost is a homeless outreach center based out of Florida and uses cryptocurrencies such as Litecoin to help those in need. It accepts donations in Bitcoin and Litecoins.

eGifter entered into partnership with payment processor GoCoin to accept Bitcoin and Litecoin payments. With it, you can buy and send gift card to a loved one and pay with cryptocurrencies.

For cryptocurrency miners, you can use Litecoins or Bitcoins to buy KnCMiner at kncminer.com.

Benz and Beamer has sold a car Tesla Model P85 to a customer who paid in Litecoins through payment processor GoCoin and they accept such kind of payments.

Bitcoin Cash

There is a list here of merchants who accept Bitcoin Cash as a payment method. They include fashion online shops such as Negash Apparel & Footwear, Coinfy merchant services, gambling, Living Room of Satoshi bill payment firm in Australia and Cryptartica Bitcoin Cash merchandise. Cryptartica is a place where you can buy a variety of items such as T-shirts and pay using Bitcoin Cash.

The best place to look at to spend all other altcoins is Overstock because it accepts over 40 altcoins through partnership with ShapeShift.

Living Room of Satoshi accepts Monero, PIVX, DogeCoin, LiteCoin, Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Steem, Zcash, Eth Classic, Bitcore, and Ethereum.

Bitroadmarket.com is an online store that sells anything inluding household appliances, electronics, sports goods, clothing. It accepts payments in Litecoin, Bitcoin, Dashcoin or Dogecoin.

More Stamps Global is an online travel agency, similar to Travelocity and Expedia. Their differentiator is that you can do all of your business with them in forty different Cryptocurrencies, which eliminates the need for fiat being involved in any aspect of your travel. 

Bitify.com, which allows people to buy and sell items, accepts payments in LTC and BTC. It is a marketplace that sells any type of products and software so you can get any type of product including electronics, decorations, glasses, gifts, art, e.t.c.

Fascinated by jewelry, you can spend you Litecoins and Bitcoins at Allthingsluxury buying jewelry made of gold, silver, platinum and other precious metals at below the market prices! You get these items for as low as $20.

Cryptopet.com is a petshop also accepts Litecoin, Bitcoin, Dogecoin or Darkcoin as payment for purchases including food till toys and decorations. The products are delivered to any location around the world.

Bitcoin.shop is a shop where you can buy baby gift, computers and car parts in addition to other items and equipment and pay with LTC, BTC and XDG.

Btctrip, a travel booking service, also accepts payments in Litecoin, Bitcoin or Dogecoin.
