NERO Chain and Taiwan-based mobile security company Taisys signed a strategic partnership agreement at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on March 3, 2026. The two companies said they would jointly explore "the next generation of wallet authentication and user access services", combining security methods familiar from mobile and banking with blockchain accounts.
Historical news event: 2026-03-03. Retrospective report prepared November 2026.
Taisys posted its announcement on March 4, and NERO Chain followed with its own press release. Both made clear this was an agreement to work together, not a finished product.
Who signed, and what they agreed
According to NERO Chain, the agreement was signed by Jason Ho, founder and chairman of Taisys, and Jake Stolarski, CEO of NERO Chain. Wei-hua Tseng, a senior specialist and section chief at Taiwan's Industrial Development Administration under the Ministry of Economic Affairs, attended as a witness. The stage screen at the ceremony described it as a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on "Powering Identity Wallets with dMID Token Economy Ecosystem".
The companies said they want to "bridge Web2-grade security standards with Web3-native infrastructure." In plain terms, the goal is to make crypto wallets as easy and safe to use as a banking app, without giving up the self-custody that defines them.

Bridging mobile security and blockchain accounts
Each company brings a different piece.
NERO Chain is a layer-1 blockchain compatible with Ethereum tools. It builds in account abstraction based on the ERC-4337 standard, along with a "Paymaster" system that lets apps pay gas fees for users or accept fees in other tokens. Account abstraction turns a blockchain account into a programmable smart-contract wallet instead of an address unlocked by a single private key. Depending on how it's built, that can allow social logins, spending rules, session keys and account recovery.
Taisys works on the hardware side. Its Thin SIM and SIMoME technology stores private keys and handles identity checks and two-factor authentication inside a phone's SIM, a tamper-resistant chip that mobile operators already manage. At MWC 2026, Taisys also unveiled dMID, a "de-identified" mobile ID system meant to verify people without relying on phone numbers, and signed a separate MOU with Japan Communications Inc. to promote it, according to Taisys's news page.
The company has been pitching the SIM as a crypto security device for years. When it launched its SIMGap hardware wallet in 2023, Jason Ho said: "By making SIMGap® the secure element for your web3 private keys, we created the user sovereign space, which completes the missing part of web3." His remarks appeared in a February 2023 announcement carried by Global Fintech Series.
Why the venue fits the problem
Signing at MWC, the mobile and telecom industry's biggest annual show, was a natural fit. Most potential crypto users already carry a phone, and they expect account setup and security checks to feel like any other app. For mainstream users, losing a wallet key or approving a malicious transaction can do far more damage than forgetting a website password. Our older guide to wallet security ideas shows how much of that burden has traditionally fallen on users.
NERO has been building out partnerships aimed at everyday users. In 2025 it teamed with AI on Web3 and On-us to connect games and lifestyle apps, and days after MWC it introduced NERO YOSO, a prediction and rewards platform built around a LINE community. Its native token launched in July 2025 with listings on Bitget, Gate and MEXC.
Partnership is the beginning, not the finish
The companies said specific technical architectures and implementation details would come in later announcements. As of signing, nothing published showed a working wallet using the combined approach, and no independent security review had been released.
That distinction matters in crypto, where an MOU or "strategic partnership" can be presented as if it were a launched product. What can be verified is that two companies agreed, in public and with a government official present, to work on wallet authentication together.
If the collaboration produces usable systems, its value would be practical: easier recovery, clearer transaction approvals and stronger protection for people who don't want to become experts in private-key management. Those outcomes should be judged on shipped software and demonstrated security, not on the signing alone.
Frequently asked questions
What did NERO Chain and Taisys agree to at MWC 2026?
On March 3, 2026, the two companies signed a strategic partnership agreement to jointly explore new wallet authentication and user access services that combine mobile security with blockchain accounts.
Is there a NERO Chain and Taisys wallet available?
Not as of the signing. Both companies said technical details and product plans would be shared in future announcements.
What is Taisys known for?
Taisys is a Taiwanese company that makes SIM-based security technology, including Thin SIM and SIMoME, which can store private keys and handle identity checks and two-factor authentication on mobile devices.
What is account abstraction?
Account abstraction lets a blockchain account work as a programmable smart-contract wallet rather than a single key-controlled address. It can enable features such as social login, gas sponsorship and account recovery. NERO Chain supports it natively.
